Moonfish
Moonfish is an indie rock band from Paris. Coming from very diverse musical landscapes, Ghita (vocals and keyboards), Karl (guitar) and Alexandre (bass and production) combine their influences to compose. It results in Moonfish, a cocktail of indie/modern rock and dream pop, characterized by ethereal soundscapes, catchy hooks and intricate melodies.
Q: Which song would you like featured?
Post Modern Galaxy! It is the opener for our debute album, Old Shooting Stars. This song relates the adventures of Scaphee, a strange yet relatable creature that struggles to discover the true purpose of his life (a clip is available on Youtube). Musically, it is representative of the overall athmosphere of our first album compositions. The song includes mostly clean tones and is empowered by the quite fast tempo. The intensity builds up progressively over the verses and choruses to finally go back to the introductive guitar arpeggios.
Q: How long have you been creating music?
We are releasing our album “Old Shooting Stars” on May 27th, we have been working on it since 2019 and have been doing everything on it: composition, recording, mixing, mastering and now promotion 😊
Q: Do you have a preferred genre?
Our music would be classified as Indie rock, dream pop or modern rock. In fact, the music we write is a mix of our different musical preferences and is then very different to what we are used to listen.
Q: Do you write your own music, or do you collaborate?
We write all our songs, including both music and lyrics.
Q: Tell us about your latest song, EP, or album.
We decided to work on our first album back in 2019 based on first compositions ideas written during sessions. Step by step, we started tracking the song, then enhancing them with new musical layers to finally reach our own sound, which is very dreamy overall. The songs were written by the three of us, using our different influences to create our style. We recorded, mixed and mastered the album at home and are now releasing it song by song. At the end, the album includes 11 tracks which have all different flavours and which are linked by common aspect (sweet voice, clean guitars, …) and some musical patterns that are repeated throughout the album.
Q: What is the best song you ever released and why?
We all have different preferences, and it also varies from a day to another. We will be curious to know which of our song is the most appreciated by the listeners 😊
Q: Do you, or would you like to, perform live?
Yes, we are planning to play some show once the album is released. It will be in Paris area, starting in music bars.
Q: Which of your songs is, or do you think would be, fun to perform live?
We are working on dedicated version of our song for the future concerts, with cajon replacing drums and also with no drum versions. We have fun on all of our song, but if we should pickup one, it would probably be Oblivion Garden (to be released April 12th) because we add some specific parts for the live version!
Q: What is your favorite/best outlet to connect with your followers Instagram, Spotify, FB, Twitter, iTunes? How would you want them to follow?
We present our music on our Instragram account. It features snippets before the song releases, videos from our rehearsal sessions (including cover songs) and also some memes around our mascot Scaphee. To extend our community we engage with comparable artists and also share and get feedbacks on Reddit.
Q: Are you currently working on any projects we should look out for?
We are working on the release of the other songs from Old Shooting Stars, but we are also starting writing ideas for our next record and we are very excited about that!!
