Exploring the Unique Sound and Passion of Emerging Artist Christian Bunalesd
Christian Bunales has made a significant entrance into the music scene with his debut single, which skillfully blends elements of folk, pop, and indie.
Described in his Spotify bio as “just a kid who loves music,” Bunales’ genuine passion is evident in this release.
His single presents a captivating mix of folk’s emotive storytelling, pop’s infectious hooks, and indie’s innovative sound. This fusion not only showcases his versatility but also establishes him as an exciting new artist to follow. His decision to merge these genres reflects a profound appreciation for diverse musical styles and a commitment to creating something uniquely his own.
Your debut single features a blend of folk, pop, and indie elements. What inspired you to merge these genres for your first track?
Well, those 3 genres are my favorite genres, so I decided to add a little bit of each to my song.
How did you approach the songwriting process for your debut single? Can you describe any specific techniques or routines you used?
There really wasn’t any approach to the song writing process. It was kind of in the moment and those lyrics came from the heart and how I felt.
Your Spotify bio describes you as “just a kid who loves music.” How did this love for music start, and how has it shaped your journey so far?
Ever since I was a kid, I admired music so much. I admired all types of music. Just being a little kid hearing songs from the radio and just vibing and singing along really inspired me to do the same and be the one making songs for people to connect with.
Can you share any personal experiences or stories that influenced the lyrics of your debut song?
There was a girl in my high school that I truly liked. In the song I described how I truly felt about her and how I’m always thinking about her, but there’s always that one question where you wonder if they’re thinking about you too. That’s the true meaning of “Are you.”
What challenges did you face during the production of your first track, and how did you overcome them?
The mixing of the vocals and the mastering. I’m still new to all of this but I tried my best to make it work.
How did you decide on the final sound and arrangement of your song?
I wanted the song to sound very calm soothing and heart felt.
Were there any particular influences or references that guided your choices?
I would say yes but there are too many to list.
How do you balance your personal style with the expectations of the folk, pop, and indie genres?
I feel as though it’s certainly not easy, but I would probably say mixing them together is what made my personal style
What do you hope listeners will feel or think when they hear your debut single?
I hope they can somewhat connect to this song
Can you describe the process behind creating the artwork or visuals that accompany your debut release?
The cover photo was honestly just me in music class. I wanted to take a photo of my holding a guitar cause I thought it looked cool. It wasn’t originally supposed to be the cover art, but I couldn’t use the original one so I bailed out on that one.
How has releasing your first single on Spotify impacted your perspective on the music industry?
I would say that the music industry is sometimes not giving people a chance. There’s a lot of talented artists out there who are putting in the effort, yet they get no recognition. But I would also say that the music industry is a hard place to succeed in considering so many artists are so talented.
What are some of your favorite moments or highlights from working on your debut song?
Just feeling the instrumental and being able to actually feel the song.
Who are your biggest musical influences, and how have they impacted your sound and style?
My biggest influences are probably Bruno Mars, Luke Combs, Michael Jackson, and James Arthur. They really impacted me to be myself.
What role do you think social media and streaming platforms like Spotify play in the success of emerging artists today?
A very big role. Social media has revolutionized being able advertising music. You can advertise and promote music so more and more people can hear your talent. Also, being successful and having a lot of streams on Spotify can make you a good amount of money as well.
How do you stay motivated and inspired to create new music, especially after your debut release?
Just having that love for music
What’s next for you after this debut? Are there any upcoming projects or new music in the works?
There will be new music soon. It’s in the works right now.
